The collaboration between the two students from Interactive Digital Media and Nota, which is a state library for people with reading difficulties, has been so fruitful that Nota's development foundation chose to reward the work with the project school award, which is awarded once a year. The award was presented at the D4Learning conference, which is precisely about inclusion through social media.

The project entitled: ‘Er du også ordblind?’: Digitalt netværk til nota.dk’ (Are you also dyslexic?’: Digital network for nota.dk) has included a preliminary study of how an online platform for nota.dk can be developed.  The purpose of the network is to enable dyslexic students to experience a community about being dyslexic, share stories, challenges and experiences and thereby gain a greater understanding of their own dyslexia.

A PROJECT WITH AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE TARGET GROUP

In the justification for the award, Nota's anthropologist, Bolette Willemann Jensen, said:

‘The project wins because it contributes with many new insights into the target group and takes into account both potentials and challenges in the introduction of an online platform. In addition, the project shows a good understanding of the target group and its vulnerabilities and strengths. Furthermore, the students behind the project have managed to incorporate Nota's vision and mission into their project’.

In her speech, Bolette Willemann Jensen also thanked Associate Professor Søren Bolvig Poulsen, who is affiliated with the Centre for Interactive Digital Media & Experience Design, because as a thesis supervisor, he represents the bridge between academic studies and the implementation of knowledge in practice.

In connection with her master's programme in Interactive Digital Media, Julie Nygaard has worked with Nota in both her 8th  semester and in connection with her thesis in her 10th semester. She says:

‘For me as a student, the collaboration has been very rewarding. I find that Nota's employees have a broad understanding of the scope and subject of the projects, which raises the level of the knowledge we gain through the collaboration’.
